RAFIKI-KRISTU? WHAT IS IT?

                                                  THE CONCEPT

Rafiki Kristu™ is a Swahili phrase which means “Christ, a friend”. Rafiki Kristu is a Programme which is set to inculcate a culture of intimate friendship with Jesus Christ who is the source of Hope and Joy.

The idea behind Rafiki Kristu lies on the fact that Christ is the only true friend that human beings can rely on. Christ says in John 15:13-14 that “No one has a greater love than to lay down his life for his friends, you are my friends…” This idea calls all people to befriend this true friend so as to find true meaning in their lives.

With so much evils in our societies; even in our own surroundings, one may wonder if God is known at all. Why is He being neglected, why are there so many injustices? Violence against vulnerable beings, broken families, street children, corruption, abortion, homosexuality, atheism, crimes etc.  Why injustices in the healthcare, governance, education and other social arenas?

One of the saddest things to note is that, even the Christian concentrated areas, these sins and crimes are prevalent. Can one still say confidently that the cited injustices are committed by non Christians alone? It is more painful to say that some of these perpetrators are those whose faith belong to Jesus Christ or have passed through Christian teachings or instructions. What went wrong? Is Christ really known as some people claim him to be? Is he really loved? Which Christ’s image do people have in their hearts and minds?

Rafiki Kristu™ is the idea that desires to present CHRIST as a friend and propose him and re propose him to members of the society. One may be tempted to ask “why this idea of friendship?”  The response attributed to this question is very simple; friends are approachable, friendship brings harmony and fosters trust, a true friend gives joy and brings hope, a true friend is not selfish but loves unconditionally.
